G-8 Meeting Includes Focus on Development

This year's meetings of the Group of Eight heads of state (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Russian Federation) include several development-related items on the agenda: Communiques on a variety of development issues establish shared principles and chart the direction of future policy.
Documents include a G-8 "Action Plan Against Famine Especially in Africa;" action plans on Water and Health, respectively; "Cooperative G-8 Action on Trade;" "Fostering Growth and Promoting a Responsible Market Economy;" "Science and Technology for Sustainable Development;" and "Fighting Corruption and Improving Transparency."
