MDRC Provides a Focus for Development Efforts in Mongolia

Established in 1998, the Mongolian Development Research Center works to promote the knowledge of development economics in Mongolia, and to bring together scholars and specialists who work on long-term development concepts for Mongolia.

MDRC seeks to build research partnerships to create a comprehensive development plan, considering geography, culture, tradition, local peoples' nomadic way of life, and Mongolia's current economic profile.

Key activities at MDRC include:

* Organization of working groups on a case-by-case basis to produce books on selected problems of Mongolia's development;

* Conducting short-term seminars and training courses to improvee the skills of national development economics specialists;

* Supporting the training process of Mongolian experts on development economics;

* Making development economics more prominent in Mongolia's schools by disseminating information through national media and its own publications, and by guiding students' diploma work and dissertations.
