| GDN Sponsors Five-Week Visiting Fellowships at IMF | June 25, 2003 |
| The International Monetary Fund and Global Development Network have announced the fourth year of the IMF/GDN Visiting Scholars' Program. GDN will accept applications from is open to successful participants from GDN's research competitions and other GDN-funded activities of the regional networks based in East Asia, South Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East and North Africa. The GDN Secretariat must receive applications no later than 10 September 10 2003. The Visiting Scholars' Program provides for as many as five researchers from developing regions to visit the Research Department of the IMF for a period of five weeks, to work on research supported by the regional networks and GDN. During the visiting scholar's time at the IMF, a staff member from IMF Research Department will be work with her/him. In addition, the visiting researcher will also have the opportunity to interact with other IMF staff and to use the information and data available at the IMF. The IMF may publish the final product of scholars' research projects, after its publication by the appropriate GDN regional network. | |

It is believed that through the sharing of experiences and ideas from a range of projects and programmes, researchers will be able to achieve greater utilisation of their own research in the development of policies.
