Berkeley International Center Provides Guide for Proposals to Support Field Work
June 30, 2003
Writing research and grant proposals is one of the most difficult, and unavoidable, requirements of a career in the social sciences. When it comes time to write them, however, many feel left to their own devices, especially as graduate students. This website helps writers to navigate the hazards this process entails.
This site comprises a collection of tips, samples, and links. It will not substitute neither for a course nor for feedback from colleagues and advisors. It merely provides an amiable guide meant to help writers through an important phase. Although biased in favor of "area studies" specialists and those planning to spend extended periods overseas, the content of this workshop should prove useful for any writer hoping to conduct empirical social-scientific fieldwork.
